Volunteer Services Special Projects

Help Us With A Special Project

You don't have to be a registered volunteer in order to lend a hand at CMMC. We have several special events that require extra help and we appreciate the time given by those who have a few hours to donate.

Annual Holiday Adopt-A-Child Program

During the holidays the employees of CMMC join together to 'adopt' underprivileged children from a local Head Start center. The employees try to provide the kids with the items on his/her wish list. Help is always needed with hand-knitted hats, mittens, scarves and sweaters. Toys are needed too! The project is coordinated by the Employee Special Events Committee (ESEC). The contact person is Geri St. Amand; she can be reached at 795-2249.

Annual Mitten Tree

The Employee Special Events Committee sponsors the Annual Mitten Tree. After Thanksgiving, a tree display is placed in the hospital cafeteria. We invite donations of purchased or handmade mittens, gloves, hats and scarves for the tree. The items are given to pediatric healthcare providers to distribute to patients during the winter.

Beanies and Sweaters for Premature Infants

We invite knitters to make beanies, sweaters and afghans for premature infants in the Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit (NICU). CMMC's Volunteer Services Department has a good supply of donated yarn and some patterns for knitters who are interested.

Lap Quilts

We always need people who love to crochet and knit to make lap quilts, or afghans, for patients. The homemade afghans are a special comfort. We have donated yarn and patterns available.

Blood Drives

CMMC hosts at least four blood drives every year. Volunteers are needed to help with donor registration, monitoring the canteen table and escorting donors. The Volunteer Services Director and the American Red Cross coordinate the drives.

Community Healthcare Events

CMMC regularly hosts community education fairs and can always use help at the tables, with handing out information and registering participants. For more information on any of these activities, contact the Volunteer Services Department at 795-2472.
