Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center Offers Medical Oncology Services

Medical oncology is the treatment of cancer using medical treatment such as chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and biological therapy. Medical oncologists are specially trained doctors who diagnose and create treatment plans.

Our cancer patients who need medical oncologists are referred to The Central Maine Medical Group Hematology-Oncology Associates practice. This group practice has offices in Lewiston, Bridgton, Rumford and Brunswick.

The practice offers many treatment options, including a state-of-the-art infusion center, as well as hydration, antibiotic, therapy and blood product transfusion services. The healthcare providers at CMMG Hematology-Oncology Associates are committed to providing the most current, individualized, compassionate and convenient care for cancer patients and their families. As with other cancer service providers at Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center, they have an affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, which allows them to consult with cancer sub-specialists, if necessary. MGH is a leader in cancer research, cancer treatment resources and treatment protocols.

The practice is certified with the American Society of Clinical Oncologists (ASCO) Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI)™.
