Plastic Surgeons Can Treat, Repair and Reconstruct the Face and Body
Plastic and reconstructive surgery involves the repair or reconstruction of human tissue – muscle, bone, tendons, nerves, and skin – due to injury, congenital defect, disease, or aesthetic preference. Plastic surgeons may be consulted by other medical specialists in situations involving complicated wound management, complicated infection, or to treat tissue problems where traditional treatments have failed. Removal of skin tumors is a common procedure performed by plastic surgeons. Plastic surgeons also perform cosmetic surgery, including breast reconstruction surgery, and repair facial injuries.
