The Y at CMMC Offers Seniors Fitness Classes and More!
The Y at CMMC encourages the seniors in our communities to be healthy.
Are you an aging older adult and thinking that you might like to get healthier? Or perhaps you have always been fit and would like to shake things up a bit – change your workout, find a new regimen, meet some other like-minded souls?
Why not start with a visit to The Y at CMMC? (One service we offer to all seniors, whether or not they are members, is a free blood pressure screening, every Wednesday, from 9 to 11 AM.)
We would love to give you a tour of the Center. You’ll find that our full-service Center is comparable to any local gym, when it comes to equipment and programs. We also make an extra effort to reach our seniors with classes designed for them.
Programs for our senior members include:
Happy Hearts and Lungs – A maintenance program for individuals with a cardiac and/or pulmonary history.. The class features supervised individual, independent cardiovascular and strength training. Group weights and self-safety skills are incorporated as well. Held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8 AM, 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM and 1 PM.
Personal Fitness – This class begins with a one-on-one evaluation, followed by an individualized program created to help meet your specific health and fitness goals. After an evaluation, participants will take part in a structured group exercise plan featuring cardiovascular, strength, agility and relaxation exercises. There's also a special focus on flexibility, balance and fall prevention.
Fit-N-Fun – Have fun while you exercise! The class focuses on aerobic and strength conditioning, stretching and relaxation, and some yoga exercises. Participants can improve aerobic capacity, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination.
